I haven't ever seen BTVS, will I fit in here?
I saw that there is no formal word limit, but it is expected to write at least 100 words. What does this mean?
I've made an application, but it was denied. What now?
I have looked over the Canons list, however none are to my liking. Can I create an original?
I am going on vacation for a few weeks, what do I have to do, and how does this concern my character's safekeeping?
I noticed the Canons have an activity level next to them. How active would I need to be to play that Canon?
Although based off of the series, Slayerfest has nothing to do with the show BTVS. Although the concepts are there, characters and plots are original and anyone can come here, write an application and roleplay with ease.
I saw that there is no formal word limit, but it is expected to write at least 100 words. What does this mean?
Although no formal word limit, there is an expectation that you will give the roleplay buddy something to work with. Its no fair when someone dishes out a 500 word response, only to be given a sentence or paragraph in reply. We understand its difficult at times, but at least try and remain consistent with the other person and push yourself. We do pride ourselves here on accepting people of all roleplay backgrounds, but we do encourage you to seek out some of the friendly staff to help improve your ability. Nothing wrong with that, right?
I've made an application, but it was denied. What now?
Staff will have given you the reasons for the denied application, but don't lose heart just yet! These are ways of bettering your app and character, not of destroying your confidence. This site is governed in a particular way, and we are just easing your application/character into that way. Just replace the errors, and you should be set to go!
I have looked over the Canons list, however none are to my liking. Can I create an original?
Because we have a large range of canons here at Slayerfest, we are confident at least one of them would be suited to your liking. However some may be taken, and we are aware of this, therefore we do allow you to create an original in such situations, as long as you talk with one of the staff members first before you start putting effort into an application to determine if the original is suited for the site's plot. We don't want originals with no purpose, just jumping into open threads and hoping to become involved that way. We want to fit them in and flesh them out.
I am going on vacation for a few weeks, what do I have to do, and how does this concern my character's safekeeping?
Before going away for a week or more, have the courtesy to notify the forum, more importantly the staff, in the Intros & Absenses board. This allows staff to work around your absense and continue to keep the site active. Your character is safe as long as you let us know of the absense. It is possible to lend your character to a staff member or trusting member to allow plots to continue on with your character until you get back. Some characters are crucial and it really does damage the roleplay and activity of the forum when major threads are left in limbo.
I noticed the Canons have an activity level next to them. How active would I need to be to play that Canon?
The "High" rated Canons are the main cast, the ones who are featured in every episode and therefore will be involved in many threads. They are expected to be actively posting at least three-four days a week, unless they are busy with outside stuff. The "Moderate" rated Canons are those still important to the plot, however don't have to be involved in everything. The "Low" rated Canons are those who may appear, however don't have a huge part in the plot and therefore can get away with not being active all of the time. This is best suited for the people who are unable to be on often.
