Liam cried out as his back collided with the stone edges of Mrs. Lilliana Purnella’s gravestone, loving mother, wife, and daughter. Too bad she wasn’t a zombie that would break through the surface of her grave, grab him and yank him down into the darkness of the earth. It would be far better than this fight at the moment. Okay, no that was a lie. If the woman was a zombie she’d start the eating alive thing which Liam was definitely not all for. At least he could fight back right now….sort of. Why couldn’t he have super-strength like the slayers he’d heard so much about? And why in God’s name was he sucking so bad at this fight? It was just two vampires. But to Liam’s defense, they seemed to know what the hell they were doing. They weren’t like other vampires he had fought before. Fledglings so to speak. His father had warned him about this. ‘Those buggers are shifty out at Midnight Harbour. Be careful and take care of your brother, Liam.’ Yeah okay, easier said than done. Holden was supposed to be here already helping him fight the good fight just until he could get a hold of his slayer which was also not as easy as he first thought. It didn’t matter if Liam was the guidance counselor at the school or the freakin’ janitor! Ariana Sparks was a tough las to track down.
Liam winced as he pushed himself up off of the rather damp grass next to the gravestone he had been hurled into. He glanced at the two very blood lust vampires and then down at the multiple pieces of stone that had been broken off by the impact. ”You know, that was very disrespectful to Purnella over here. Can’t you read?” Liam pointed to the message that was written along the bottom of the headstone. ”She was a loving mum, wife, and daughter. All the world and his wife probably fancied her. Don’t you feel the blues at all right now?” The vampires both paused, glanced at each other and then shrugged. Liam rolled his eyes. ”Oh come on! What is the point of being witty if you peckish gits can’t understand what I’m saying?” Of course all he got was a few snarls and the licking of the lips. He had to face it. No matter how long these vampires had been around, it had no effect on their intelligence.

(sorry for the long post, don't know what came over me. just got excited.)
Holden let out a sigh as he quickly gathered his things to take with him on patrol. He really couldn't believe they were patrolling already, they just moved in a few days ago. Liam really didn't waste any time. He headed down to the sub basement spotting what all Liam took with him before grabbing some things of his own. He scanned the walls and drawers and grabbed the stake on the nearby table slipping it in his back pocket before grabbing a wrist bow.
He flicked the light off and locked the sub basement before heading back upstairs. He exhaled as he locked the front door and left their home, doing his best to remember where the hell was the cemetery. "If he's dead, it's his own damn fault." he said to himself as he hoofed it, adjusting the bow on his wrist. Holden walked another good 10 or 15 minutes, the night sky getting darker and darker. "No bloody car, no map..." hissed frustratedly. He trekked for another five minutes before getting finally finding the cemetery. Why a cemetery? Why couldn't it have been a mall? Vampires were lame.
He quietly searched the graveyard as he kept on his toes. Didn't mean a vampire couldn't sneak up on him and drain him if he wanted. That's if they hadn't gotten Liam first. The thought of that just frustrated him even more. Wasn't this the slayers job? She was signed up for this, not him. He reached a dead end, left or right? He heard Liam cry out in pain and ran left. Holden crouched down behind a tombstone, at this moment he wasn't sure if Liam even saw him. He was alive. That's all he needed to know. He was just knocked on his ass. He peered at the three figures and furrowed his brows. What the hell is he waiting for? He thought to himself.
”You know, that was very disrespectful to Purnella over here. Can’t you read?” he left out an inaudible sigh. Really, a monologue? He rolled his eyes right and left as Liam went on. Okay, this was getting boring. Holden appeared from behind the tombstone before dramatically laughing and slapping his knee. "Haha, that was a good one, brother." he continued to chuckle. "You two didn't think so? No?..." he stopped laughing in which both vampires looked at each other.
"Look, if you're deciding on who to eat first...Oh, Never mind." he said quickly aiming and shooting the vampire on the right, smirking as he turned to ash. "You know I'm glad to see you're alive because now I can yell at you in person. There's this thing called a cellphone you know, I may not have anyone to call but it still works the other way around" he nodded not paying attention to the vampire behind him.
He felt the vampire grab him from behind and tilt his head, his breath hitting his neck and his teeth not far behind. Holden abruptly flipped him over his shoulder and onto the ground. Now he was glad he took the bigger one out first. He firmly planted the his foot on the vampire's chest, "Really? You going to let your baby brother kill both of them?" he smirked as he felt the vampire scrambling underneath his foot. "I suggest you decide now."he managed to get out before the vampire pushed him off. "Oof!" he groaned as he hit the ground with a thud. He was really stronger than he looked.

Liam caught glimpse of a movement from the corner of his eye, and when he looked in that direction, it was Holden who was emerging from behind a gravestone slapping his knee and laughing. Liam snorted as Holden took over his very talkative approach to killing these vampires. "What can I say, I like a witty entrance. About time you showed up!" It was true. Liam liked to blab before beating the shit out of the forces of darkness whereas some people just liked to jump into the pounding. As of right now? Holden seemed to be more interested in the killing than the provoking, and he had no problem shoving aside Liam's epic one sided conversation with sarcasm.
Liam crossed his arms over his chest and shifted his weight onto his right leg wincing slightly at the very large bruise forming on the side of his ankle. He watched as Holden easily took out one of the vampires with a bow and arrow. That was way better than the crappy pointed stick in his back pocket. Other weapons that he could actually use precisely probably would have been a good thing. Note to self, use a weapon that makes you look more bad ass than Holden. It was the way he moved it around so effortlessly which Holden did learn from him actually although Liam seemed to be better at using shotguns.
Liam chuckled in response to Holden's comment. "Well, I did tell you to meet me here. I can't help it if you take too long to get ready for a patrol, Nancy Boy. I mean its just a bunch of vampires. I don't know why you have to gel your hair." He was just joking obviously, but sometimes goofing off could be the death of a slayer or a watcher. This was something his father would always tell him growing up. Just to take things seriously. But it was hard to do especially when he was around his brother. Liam was responsible, but his brother just seemed to say things that Liam couldn't help but play off of. And both Liam and Holden were too caught up with the conversation that neither of them noticed the other vampire planning his attack.
The vampire grabbed Holden from behind. Liam's uneasiness only lasted a matter of two seconds before Holden flipped him. Liam sighed loudly shaking his head with a smile as his eyes flashed to the vampire who was now pinned to the ground by Holden's foot. "Eh, I figured I might as well just watch. You are doing so well after all." But when Holden went down and was now open for attack, Liam pushed the humor aside and helped his brother.
The vampire now looked down at Holden and prepared his attack. With the vampire's distraction, Liam moved quick jump kicking the vampire in the back. The vampire stumbled over Holden falling face first into the grave behind Holden. Liam threw his hand out to Holden to help him up. "Come on Hawkeye, don't stop now."

Maybe he was talking a bit too much, he grabbed Liam's hand and got up off the ground. "I was out with a friend. I'm sorry and no, I'm not messing around." he hissed as he turned to the vampire in the grave. This was going on longer than usual but he was having fun, even if it could result in the death for either of them. The rush of adrenaline was rather fun. "Hawkeye? Have you been reading my comics again? Is the LA Times too boring and grown up for you?" he smiled not letting the vampire leave his sight.
He raised his wrist and aimed, shooting the vampire square in the right shoulder. "D'aww...Can we keep him?" he tilted his head before shooting him the leg. Holden shook his head at the vampire's cries of agonizing pain. "You want someone to blame, blame him." he nodded towards Liam. He wasn't one for causing pain or putting this poor...once human being through what was hell but at least he was relieving some stress. "This is fun and all and I'm sure you would've loved to take a drink from me and all...but party's over." he shrugged as he shot the creature of the night right in the heart.
"And you." he turned to his brother, "Next time a voicemail or a text message would suffice. That and you should really work on your jokes..." he stuck his tongue and looked down at his brother's ankle. "So, being that you're pretty much crippled, does this mean that I get to drive? he furrowed his brows with a wide grin on his face.

Liam stepped back from Holden lifting his arms in surrender at Holden's attitude shift. "So, cranky tonight. Don't be so touchy. Everyone falters at some point. Including the infamous young Keller." Liam dropped his arms thinking about how to respond to yet another insult from his brother. If he were to actually tell Holden the truth that he did in fact get so bored one night that he opened up the most interesting looking Avengers comic book that Holden owned, he would never hear the end of it. If he lied and said he was intrigued by the movie, he would also never hear the end of it....unless.... "Okay, I'll admit, I might have actually sat down and watched the movie but only because Scarlett is nice to look at." He grinned very satisfied with his white lie. He hoped that Holden wouldn't pry. Too bad I have no clue what the hell even happened in that movie.
Liam watched as his brother played. It was rather amusing. It was healthy to let off steam. He himself did it quite a lot especially when fighting. But the amusement only lasted a few seconds before it became boring. "Don't you think this is rather dull? The vampire is clearly not getting up regardless of who you blame his death on. I say just waste him already." But Holden was already on top of that shooting the crushing arrow of death. Liam shoved his hands into his pockets with a smile. "Nicely done. Could have definitely done it better myself." He joked as Holden turned around to face him. Liam rolled his eyes. "Alright, fine. I will send you a pointless text or vulgar inappropriate voicemail, happy?" Liam limped forward to continue to patrol the cemetery. "And put that tongue back into your mouth you lizard. And no you cannot drive. If anything you can carry my ass." Liam glanced out at the many gravestones scattered for what looked like miles. "God, I need to find that slayer. Good idea, you find the damn slayer hmm? You go to school with her i'm sure." There wasn't much sincerity in Liam's request to his brother. He knew it wasn't Holden's responsibility to do his job.

Holden mumbled something under his breath about not being to drive as he walked through the graveyard. It was rather creepy if you asked him. The teen kept on his toes scanning the perimeter for anything that reminded him of a giant mosquito. "You want me to find your slayer but you won't let me drive?" he stopped walking and held onto his brother. Wasn't that a tad bit backwards?
He shrugged and began walking again, "Fine, I might as well. I already kick vampire ass way better than you. he winked at his brother. It was true but Holden did learn from Liam after all. He hoped that Liam didn't take what he was saying to heart, he knew how much proving to dad that he could be a great watcher meant to him. Besides, Holden thought he was doing an awesome job. Minus the whole not finding blondie, but one day at a time, right?
"Oh, Liam, I made a friend." he nodded as the pair of them walked before he adjusted the way he was helping his brother walk before carefully sneaking his hand inside of Liam's pocket to grab the car keys. "He's pretty awesome..." he looked dead ahead doing his best to not look suspicious. The way he saw it, he was doing Liam a favor. And doing himself a favor by leaving out the whole getting the living shit kicked out of him. He was very able to take care of himself...even if it didn't look like it.
He quietly fished the keys out and slipped them in his back pocket as they reached Liam's car. He quickly left Liam in front of the passenger side door before running to the driver's side and reached in his pocket for the keys.

Liam chuckled, a confused look inching its way across his face. ”And how does driving my gorgeous black baby have anything to do with finding the slayer? What, you think I owe you for helping me find her like a caring loving brother should do anyway? Rewards don’t just come for free. I’ll tell you what. You find my slayer, you get to drive my baby whenever you want. I think that’s only fair.” He gave his brother a grin that only a trickster could muster. It would make things much easier if Holden had found the slayer for him. Of course, he knew that would be tough, but Liam was so wrapped up in this new job that it wasn’t that easy to just walk out of his office and search for the slayer on his own. Not if he wanted to keep his job which he technically had to. As much as he hated asking for help because to him it showed a lack of competence and disapproval in his father’s eyes, if Holden was willing to help out a bit, Liam would take it.
”This is true.” Liam immediately responded once he heard that Holden had agreed to helping him; however, he didn’t hear the end of Holden’s comment until after his accidental compliment was said. ”No, no, I mean this is true that you might as well help out not that you are a better fighter than me. I mean come on! Look at me! I can seriously wipe the cemetery with you.” That was a definite lie. Liam may have had him with the height, but muscle? That one went to Holden. He had more time to work out than Liam did, and he also had way more time to practice his fighting skills. Of course, complimenting people and actually meaning it rarely happened with Liam.
But it was over and done with. Liam had in fact complimented Holden and regardless if it was by accident or not, Holden would make sure that he reminded him of it regularly. ”Made a friend? I’m sorry, did I hear that correctly? Holden Keller made a friend?” Liam threw his arms up into the air his head staring up at the night sky. ”Oh good lord! It’s a miracle! A miracle I tell you!” Liam bellowed dropping his arms shortly after, a laugh escaping him. Too bad he hadn’t realized at all that Holden had slipped his hand into Liam’s pocket silently pulling out his keys. ”Eh, scratch the miracle.” Liam said as Holden referred to the friend as a HE. ”Can’t you get a girlfriend for once?” Liam shook his head. He didn’t understand it. Sixteen years old, and he hadn’t been with a woman yet as far as Liam knew. ”You are missing out dear brother. So, who is this kid then?” If Holden thought he was important enough to bring up, then he’d humor him.
By then, they had gotten to the car, and Liam reached into his pocket for his keys. ”What the….” It didn’t take Liam long to realize what trickery he had been reduced to. He looked up long enough to see Holden already running around Black Widow and pulling those stolen keys out of his own pocket. ”Oh no you don’t!” Liam managed as he ran towards Holden about to tackle him for his keys.

Holden rolled his eyes as his brother mentioned him having a girlfriend for once. It was complicated, beyond it in fact. He wasn't sure if he liked girls or guys, if not both. It was just confusing. Ayden happened to be the only guy he seemed remotely interested in and he was pretty sure that the guy didn't swing that way. There were girls around school who he thought were gorgeous and beautiful but they were either taken or would never give him the time of day.
He was snapped out of thought when his brother charged at him as he was slipping the keys into the lock of the car door. Holden quickly removed the keys from the lock and jumped out of the way. "You kind of deserved that." he looked down onto his brother who was on the ground. Holden thought he was being a jerk; he knew he was messing around for the most part but it still didn't help the fact that he was sexually confused. No, sexually challenged, he liked that word better.
"When you're ready to be a big boy again and get in the car, let me know." he smirked as he unlocked the door and slid in the driver seat and fastening the seat belt. He was going to drive, whether Liam liked it or not. He locked all the doors to the car except that of the front passenger. The teen inserted the key in the ignition and started the engine. He adjusted his mirror and played around with the radio waiting for Liam to get in the car.

Just as Liam lunged at his brother to stop grab his keys, Holden moved sneakily out of the way of the door allowing Liam to ram right into the driver’s side door smacking his head right against the window. He bounced off falling backwards smacking against the cement. ”Uhhhhh,” Liam groaned as he just laid there trying to deal with the pain radiating down from his head through to his entire body. He heard Holden’s comment about him deserving it. ”Sod off you wanker,” he managed to mumble back at him. If they were counting points between the two of them right now, Holden had just won the game completely.
When Liam was finally able to get up onto his feet again, he was pissed and his forehead would probably have a rather large bruise on it by tomorrow. Hell, he could already feel it building. He grabbed at the driver’s side door handle. He glared in at Holden. ”Are you serious right now? Unlock the door Holden, and get the fuck out!” But Holden only seemed to be adjusting the inside mirrors and and the radio. Liam rolled his eyes. It was obvious that Holden wasn’t moving at all, and Liam did want to get home at some point tonight. Liam rolled his eyes and shook his head hesitating there for a few seconds before finally giving in and walking around to the passenger side of the car where THAT door was the only one unlocked. Liam opened the door and slid in staring out the windshield. ”Alright, fine. You win this one. But you still owe me a slayer.” Liam said referring to the deal that was now on between the two of them. ”Drive,” Liam said gesturing forward, ”But don’t run into anything unless you want to die young.”
