Late night walks, some could call it? Maybe it was odd to many, but for him, it was perfectly normal. He had been so accustomed to these late night walks in the past year, though mainly with kicking vampire ass on the agenda. But not tonight, this town was different and his father was right; this was the fresh start they could both use. And he was going to take full advantage of it, by experiencing this town for what it really was. And the only way he knew how to, was by wandering around and seeing in the sights for himself. Perhaps it would have been nice to have someone to walk around with, but they would probably think it would be odd, seeing as how it was already 10.59pm. He had to sneak out obviously, though luckily for him, his father was too comfortable with a beer in hand watching some action movie on television. Which, by the way, was conveniently so loud, that he wouldn't have been able to hear him open his bedroom window and sneak out. Wow, just like the good ol' days of sneaking out of his room, huh?
He turned the volume of his ipod up, the grey hoody placed over his head as he walked down the street, admiring some of the views. Although it wasn't what he expected, Midnight Harbour did have a pretty good atmosphere to it, which only comes after getting used to the place. It just seemed peaceful and quiet, which was different to the big city, but not a bad thing, either. He needed the quiet for once in his life. His world was just too busy and nosy; something was always happening, and although it kept him on his toes, it became too consuming from time to time. This was a fresh start he thought he needed more than his father believed he did, however if he knew one thing, it was that fresh starts are only as easy to get as they are to lose.
He paused as he saw something move in the shadows. He looked over curiously, but continued walking, just assuming it was a rat or some homeless person or something. Did they have homeless people here? But when the shadow moved again, he paused, this time turning and taking a better look around. Nothing. But as he turned back to the direction he was walking in, a man was in front of him. He gasped softly, as he wasn't able to hear any movements from his Ipod. He turned the song he was listening to off, and glanced on at the man. "Uh...Last time I checked, this was an alley, not a social gathering... He went to walk around the man, but he gripped him on his shoulder tightly, and showed his vampire face. What! Not here, too!
He stared down at the vampire's hand, suprised to see that vampires were here as well. He should've expected it, really. Even though this was a new town, things like this just shouldn't change, especially when he was who he was. Did that entail him having a 'attack me im the slayer!' target on his head, or something? The vampire went to lunge on him, but he blocked the shot and jabbed the vampire in the head, landing a knee to the vampire's gut and throwing him into the alley wall. "You picked the wrong guy to play 'meet and greet' with buddy." He shook his head as he moved foward, kicking the vampire back into the wall. The vampire punched him in the head, and he staggered back, holding his lip. "Is that all you got? If I had've known you would hit like a granny on crack, I would've let you get a few blows in..." This angered the vampire, and he ran foward, but Ayden quickly hit a spinning kick, the vampire flying to the ground. But his night was only just beginning, as he turned, seeing a couple more vampires approaching from the shadows. "Alright, so we've got a party now, huh?!" He put up his fists, ready to take them all on. Damn, why didn't he still carry that stake around for safety? He didn't think that was the protection he would need to carry around this place.

so far this town had been treating her well. she had been able to reconnect with her oldest friend, liam. he was a watcher here. she hadn't seen him for ten years and the excitement of being with him again made her oddly chipper. she had just spent a good part of the evening at his place, just talking and catching up. now she was on her way to the hotel that she was going to be staying at. her father had arranged it all for her, whether it was all his choice or not was under debate. she was dressed in a rather eye catching outfit. dark blue jeans, a red lace tank top with a white button up over it that was left unbuttoned. on her feet were red flats and her long dark brown hair was left down in large curls. she had dressed up for her meeting with liam.
she knew that she was currently a good example of vampire bait but she almost hoped that a vampire would attack her. she had never gotten the chance to fight one for real but she had trained her entire life to fight. her father forbade her from fighting, telling her that it was just too dangerous. she hated that he treated her like a child. she was twenty two, she could handle herself. but now he was all the way across the ocean and what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him. she figured she might as well have a little fun while she was out of her father's eye since it was the first time in her life she had been away from him.
she headed towards downtown, where her hotel was. as she walking she pasted an alley and caught something from the corner of her eye. she paused and watched as a young man tossed a vampire to the ground and started pretty much beating the crap out of it. she then watched as the boy became surrounded by multiple vampires. from what ana could see this boy was trained, whoever he was, but she didn't know if he was trained enough for what he was being handed right now. it didn't even look like he had a stake with him. she always carried one or two in her purse. she reached into her black bag and grabbed two stakes from it before edging down the alleyway. she didn't want to draw the attention of the vampires just yet. she heard the boy bantering with them and tried to suppress a smile. as she neared the vampires she stayed in the shadows for a moment, taking in the situation.
she then took a quick step forward and shoved a shake through the back of the nearest vampire. as he turned to dust in front of her she let her eyes connect with the boy and then tossed the other stake to him without a word. she then turned in time to block a hit from the vampire on her left and placed a well aimed elbow to his face. as she went to advance on him he kicked her hard in the abdomen which caused her to hit the ground as the air whooshed from her lungs. the vampire was on her in a second and she struggled to throw him off of her. she wasn't a superhero like the slayers, she was just a trained human. when it came down to it she was weaker than a vampire. the vampire slammed a fist in her face before she used her knee to shove the vampire over her head and then rolled over so she was on top of him now. with a smirk of satisfaction she drove the stake into his heart. she turned back to see he mysterious boy fighting the other vampires.
ana pushed herself up to her feet from the ground and pile of ashes underneath her. she groaned a little as her ribs protested to the movement. she also felt a warmth on her cheek and ran her fingers across it only to pull them back and see blood. her first fight and she had dusted two vampires with minimal injuries. a cut and most likely bruised cheekbone and a more than likely cracked rib wasn't too bad. she would live and she was damn proud that she had put her training to use and proven to herself that she was strong enough and tough enough. she could be a watcher, if only her father would listen to her.

He was outnumbered by a few, however that wasn't phasing him, it actually made him more amped up about the situation. It was weird, the feelings a slayer got in situations like these. Even if the situation was bad, there was this inner craving for the fight and inflicting pain on these vampires. It was just an uncontrollable primeval desire that was in the essences of a slayer, it was basically who they were. And he was beginning to realize, in fighting these vampires, that being who he was isn't something he is just able to escape as easily as he expected with his 'fresh start' idea. Although it was a new town and new people, the same fact would remain that was the slayer and he had a destiny, which as proven tonight, he wasn't able to escape from.
His numbers soon got better, however, as some stranger approached and tossed him a stake. He smiled softly towards her, confused though. "Thats one thing I didn't expect a pretty girl like yourself to be carrying in your handbag," he smirked before turning back to these vampires and dodging an attack. He hit a blow to the vampire's gut, before sending the stake straight through the vampire's heart, watching as he turned to dust. He smirked softly, confused. Deep down, he had missed this, he couldn't deny that. The ability to fight off and destroy these vampires, and make a difference around him. Sure, maybe a few vampires wasn't a difference, but it was something, right?
He turned and watched the girl as she finished off another vampire, and he smirked, nodding his head. She was impressive, there was no denying that. Could she be...? He looked over at her as she started noticing her injuries. She did look pretty beat up from the fight, while he just brushed it off as if it was nothing. Maybe she wasn't a slayer, but who was she and why was she fighting off these vampires? She had obviously had preparation and training, so what gives? He walked towards her, stopping when he was fairly close. "You okay? You know you didn't have to come and help, I had this. But thanks for supplying the weapons." He chuckled softly as he looked on at her, wondering why anyone would want to be involved in this world unless they needed to be.

ana watched as the boy, though he wasn't really a boy and not quite a man either, take on the rest of the vampires with no problem. he was skilled, probably more skilled than herself. and he was strong, resilient. he didn't seem to take much notice to the attacks that the vampires were laying on him. he killed them with ease and precision. he fought like...like a slayer. but that couldn't be possible. slayers were only female, that is all the records ever told them. one girl, not one boy. but whoever he was she was interested in him. it wasn't often that she ran into people that fought vampires just because they could. not many people saw it as exciting and thrilling like she did.
when all of the vampires were dusted ana looked at the boy and smiled a little. "What can I say, us pretty girls can be deceiving" she replied in response to his earlier remark about a pretty girl like her pulling stakes out of her bag. "Besides, girls have everything in their purse and by everything I mean everything, stakes included" she added with a small joking laugh. if he wanted to jest then she would do the same. it wasn't necessary to be serious all of the time. sometimes a good joke or a laugh could ease the awkwardness of a situation.
"Sorry about that, I guess I should have asked if you needed help instead of assuming and raining on the parade" she replied with a slight frown and then added "I just couldn't resist." she had dreamed of killing a vampire her entire life. of being able to fight and prove to herself and eventually everyone else that she could do it. people didn't think she was strong enough because of her stupid disorders but she knew she could do it. she had merely proven that to herself tonight. "I suppose I could have saved myself from having to explain a cut on my cheek and a cracked rib though" she laughed and then had to wrap her arm across her ribs because the laughter hurt. getting hurt was just part of the job, at least for her it was.
"I'm Anastasia by the way, but most people just call me Ana" she smiled. her british accent was very much prevalent throughout the entire conversation she was having with this boy. she was fluent in many different languages but when she spoke english her british accent tended to show through a lot more, probably because that was her first language. when she spoke romanian she was able to use the proper romanian accent. "I hope I didn't get in your way at least."

He couldn't help chuckling at her comment. She was right, pretty girls definantly could be decieving. Here he was thinking the only girl worries would be then decieving him with their looks, but now it appears there were also some kickass fighters behind those pretty looks as well. Yep, it was confirmed, he was definantly going to have his hands full in this town. He smiled as she spoke on. "I'd go on a limb to say you don't have a crossbow stuck in that purse of yours." He smirked, teasing the girl softly. She really did intrigue him, why she was out here this late and why she was so seemingly eager to take part in this war against vampires. It just didn't seem like something a girl like her would be interested in. But hey, as she said, 'looks were decieving.'
He shrugged softly at her apology. "No sweat, really. I'm just stirring. Just don't want to see anyone get hurt, you know? I can take a beating, but seeing other people around me getting hurt, worst beating of em all." He smiled calmly, thinking back to when his sister was killed. Since then, he vowed that he wouldn't let anyone around him land in trouble or suffer a similar fate to that of his sister. He still believed he should've been the one to be killed that night, and she live on. It was basically her destiny really, and him carrying on that destiny just felt weird, even though at the same time, it felt right. He just felt like he was fighting the battle she should still be fighting. But that didn't mean he wasn't going to fight it, especially after realizing that it just wasn't something worth escaping.
He chuckled at her comment. "Yeah, I get that. I probably wouldn't be able to resist either. Though I hope I wasn't giving the 'damsel in distress' vibe. I would hope that I am not either of those." He kept the smirk on his face. He got what she was saying, he couldn't stay out of the way when Holden was getting assaulted at school. Although it was different, the foundations were exactly the same. It was in him to save people and stand up for what he believed to be right. It didn't click when he helped out Holden, but it was definantly clicking here tonight. Although he wasn't saving anyone, he got to kick vampire ass, which was always satisfying.
"Ayden," he replied softly as he looked around the alley, and turned back to her as she spoke again. "The only thing which got in my way tonight was those vampires, they interrupted the best part of my song." Anastasia seemed like someone he would be able to trust, but could he trust her enough to be honest about himself? That was something different altogether. He liked the way it was progressing now, there was nothing wrong with how it was now, without adding anymore confusion to the mix. He looked back into the shadows. "Looks like that was the last of them. Think we scared them off?" He chuckled sarchastically.

she smiled when ayden jested back with her. it was nice when the conversation had an air of comedy around it. it really made meeting someone, especially the way they had met, easier for some reason. "Well actually, I left my crossbow in my other purse!" she replied back with a small chuckle. ana had always had a sense of humor, she was pretty much the opposite of a shy person. she could be quiet and would keep to herself if she felt she needed to but most of the time she was happy to just talk to people. so far she liked this boy. he looked older than he probably was and she was pretty sure he was younger than her. she would guess he was probably in high school. but she didn't mind, she would talk to anyone that could hold a conversation with her and so far he was going outstanding in her book.
when he pointed out that he didn't mind that she had jumped in but that he just didn't want to see other people get hurt she nodded slowly. she noticed that he didn't have a mark on him from the fight despite seeing with her own eyes that he had been thrown around pretty good. "I see you made it out of the fight unscathed. I can honestly say that was my first fight so I am pretty proud of myself that I only got minimal injuries" she replied with a small smile. she was insanely curious as to how he wasn't showing any signs of having just taken on a group of vampires but it really wasn't her business. she was here to check up on liam, possibly get a glimpse of ariana, the slayer, and then go back to england and report to the council. it was like she was just their little errand girl. she didn't want to go back home though, not anytime soon at least. luckily her father hadn't given her a specific time limit...yet.
"Oh my gosh, NO! You definitely did not look like a damsel in distress. I would say you looked more like a bad ass that just needed a stake. Honestly you probably didn't even need my help, well I know that you didn't. I just kind of threw myself in there without asking" she frowned lightly but then shrugged. it wasn't too big of a deal really. she had merely had some fun and it looked like ayden didn't mind too much. "Plus if anyone should play the part of damsel in distress shouldn't it be me? I am a damsel...sort of" she laughed and shoved her curls out of her face. she was wearing the most ridiculous outfit to try and fit evil with and still she had managed fairly well. it was a good night, a good night that she had to made sure her father never found out about.
"It is a pleasure to meet you Ayden" she replied and pretended to curtsy at him with a giggle. "Vampires, they don't even have the proper decency to wait for a blokes...I mean a guys song to be over" she said in a fake irritated voice. she had accidently used the english term for guy instead of the american one. it was her first time in america so it was to be expected really. when he pointed out that the vampires were all gone and then jokingly asked if they had scared them off she had to chuckle as well "Well yeah! If any more of them had been watching I am sure they ran scared, what with how kick ass of a team we are" she joked back. he was pretty kick ass, her on the other hand was alright. "So you from around here?" she asked wondering if he was native to midnight harbour or just a visitor like herself.

He smirked at her comment about the purse, putting his head down towards the ground with a smile before looking back up at her, crossing his arms over eachother. "Hmm, I guess I shouldn't underestimate you then. Do you color code the purses for what weapons you stash in them, or you just know?" He chuckled briefly. If he was going to be this 'slayer' in town, then he was going to need one of these crossbows. You can't be a vampire slayer without a crossbow, it was like being a nun without a church. Bad example, but point is there. Crossbows were fun, the ability to shoot vampires in the head from distances, or shoot one as they run off after realizing they were screwed. And he had been told before that he had a good aim, so that wouldn't be a problem. The only thing was, he didn't know how he was going to stash this away from his father or get it into the house without him finding it. Crossbows weren't exactly something you could just stick in a drawer. There was always in the wardrobe, where his stash of crosses and stakes already were. Yeah, that could probably work.
He moved around as she commented on his unscathedness from the fight, smiling softly. "I haven't even got any broises from punching the vampire's faces on my knuckles. Now how am I going to brag about being the tough guy?" He chuckled softly, placing his hands in his pockets as he watched on. She was probably curious about how he didn't have any broises or anything from the fight, especially if she saw him get a few blows to the face in the fight. Hopefully she didn't notice, it was just too much explaining to do and he wasn't really ready to open up to anyone about this kind of thing. He had opened up to one too many people, and now he had an overly obsessed brother who didn't want him to be involved in this mess. Boy would he hate to see his brother's reaction when he finds out he is back in it, ten feet deep. It seemed bribery was in order. But shit, he didn't have any money, or a job. Plan B?
He grinned as she referred to him as badass. "Yep, I knew there was something about you I really liked, you see it how it is. Though there would be no badass without the damsel. And the vampire which gets the pleasure of having a piece of wood shoved into their heart. I feel like it was a team effort." He smirked confidently, liking his new title as badass. It was something he hadn't been called before, but he was open for people to continue calling him such things. Hey, he could be 'Ayden the badass vampire slayer.' It had somewhat of a ring to it, anyway. Haters gonna hate!
He nodded his head softly as she spoke. "It was a pleasure to go to battle with you, Ana. He smirked, teasing softly. He continued to nod in agreement with her further comments. "Yeah, I feel its the not having a beating heart or soul thing. That respect for music just goes out the window instantly. That, or they probably would prefer listening to music from the sixties. And who am I to stereotype vampires like that?" He chuckled again. And he agreed, they were a pretty kickass team. "We are, though as long as I'm still the badass one." That was a deal breaker for him. "I just moved from Miami, so yeah, fairly new. Still getting used to everything around here. How about yourself?

she laughed when he asked if she color coded her purses to differ which weapon was in each or if she just knew. "I just know, I color code them to my outfit of course" she said in her pretend snooty girl voice. she really didn't. she only ever carried a purse because, as in this instance, they could hold some pretty handy items without people giving her strange looks. she couldn't exactly just walk around with a pointy wood stick in her hand. people might start asking questions that she couldn't answer. a packpack would be alright but then it wouldn't be as easily accessible. then there was the fannypack...that one was self explanatory. so a purse it was for her. of course she was joking about having a crossbow in her other purse, she would never be able to get it to fit and be discrete about it. she did have a crossbow though for those special occasions.
"Well you have no proof of having even been in a fight. For all other people know I was in a fight, have the injuries to prove it, and now I am the one that gets to say 'you should see the other guy'" she replied with a small joking small. it was strange to her for sure but if he didn't want to tell her what was up then she had no business harassing him for information. she was one of those don't ask, don't tell sort of people. sure she was nosy sometimes but she knew when to push and when not to. he seemed like a nice enough guy and he seemed to be able to handle himself. she had her own secrets and she figured that he did as well. if he felt like telling her then he would, same went for her.
she rolled her eyes in a jokingly exaggerated way when he let her compliment give him a big head, in a way at least. "Well don't get to used to me being the damsel, it doesn't happened to often" she laughed. this was true, she never acted the part of being a girl. she was slender and didn't look like she was all that tough but she could easily handle her own in most situations. of course she had never been given the chance to prove herself but she was fairly confident in her own skills, maybe too confident. she paused for a moment in their conversation when her phone buzzed in her pocket. she glanced at it and then glanced at ayden before saying "Excuse me a sec." she reached into her bag and pulled out a bottle of water along with a bottle of pills. she popped one pill and took a swig of water before putting it all back in her bag. "Sorry for that minor interruption" she laughed lightly. she had to take anti-seizure medication every six hours or else she would pretty much fall into a real state of damsel in distress.
"Ahh, but the pleasure was all mine" she replied with an exaggerated curtsy towards him. she then nodded along with his statement about the undead just losing all sense of good musical taste and then agreed that they were a good team as long as he was still the badass one. "Oh but of course, I wouldn't dare take that title from you" she replied with a wink and a chuckle. she then listened to him as he told her that he had just moved here from Miami. so he was new here too. at least she wasn't alone in that aspect. "Well I am simply visiting a very old and dear friend. I arrived from London yesterday evening. Not sure how long I will be in town just yet" she replied. how long she stayed depended on long she could get away with staying before the council decided she needed to come back. they wouldn't be happy when she told them that the slayer had not been located as of yet.

He chuckled at Anastasia's comment about the "other guy." "Yeah, thats true. I guess I'll have to keep you around just so I can hear you say it," he teased, putting his hands back into his pockets, and looking around at the now abandoned alley. He smirked sarchastically as she went on, nodding his head. "I'm sure it doesn't. I guess we'll have to just wait till next time then won't we?" He laughed softly. He hoped there was a next time, oddly enough. This girl seemed cool, and although he didn't want to reveal his identity to her, it was nice having someone to talk to about supernatural happenings again. He hadn't been able to do that since his sister was alive. And although his brother knew about the supernatural happenings, he couldn't exactly talk to him about it.
He watched on as she excused herself and took a few pills. He had no jokes for this situation, but he was curious what the pills were for, exactly. As big as his mouth was, it wasn't his place to question someone like that, they didn't even know eachother really, he didn't have any right to know. She could tell him when she felt comfortable, there was no need pushing something which could be something small in the end anyway. He laughed at her reluctance to take the title from him. "Thats right, you better not try to either. I'm dying with this title," he replied casually, smirking. "London? Thats cool, he added briefly, keeping his smile up as he looked on at the woman. "Any good there? I mean, why would you leave London to come to this town of all places? Can't be the vampire activity," he chuckled softly, but in her mind, it could be that very reason. Maybe there was more to her than she was making on? He assumed the same could be said about him from her, though.

ana laughed as he went along with her light banter. he was different to talk to than liam was. with liam it was all old memories and sexual tension, yes you heard that right. there was just this weird vibe between her and liam, a vibe that she didn't have with ayden, it was nice. ayden was just easy to talk to. it was like it didn't matter what they said to each other, the other one was able to keep it going and go along with it. with ayden there could probably be silence and it wouldn't be that awkward, okay so maybe it might be a little awkward. "Sweet, I am officially the sidekick! I have always wanted to be enlisted as the sexy, female sidekick to the masculine superhero. No one will ever expect the level of bad ass that we possess, mainly you of course" she replied with a laugh and small wink at him. she was just all about boosting his ego and even her own right now. maybe because it was nice to talk to someone and not have to worry about saying the wrong thing. with liam he would instantly go into a mood if his family or even really her family got brought up. i mean she didn't like the council either but he really hated them.
she saw him look at her with a sort of confusion as she popped her pills. she wasn't really embarrassed or secretive about her medication anymore. what did it matter. she had proven that she was a bad ass in her own way, sort of. "Seizure medication" she commented lightly and then shrugged "Had the nasty little buggers ever since I was really young. If I don't take my medication on time then I really am a damsel in distress, but not in a pretty way. More like in a convulsing, head slamming into the ground, foaming at the mouth, eyes rolling back in the head sort of way" she laughed. Part of that was probably an exaggeration but he would get the point. her stupid seizures were the reason that her father thought he was too fragile, too weak, to be a watcher. when he asked if london was any good she hesitated for a moment and then said "Well, there is some activity there I guess, but way more here. I actually kind of like all the activity here, it gives me a chance to actually do something. Back home I am sort of under lock and key. My father is really strict and isn't so keen on the idea of me getting into trouble. He sort of knows about the supernatural too, or rather is a believer I guess" she replied with a smile. she was trying to be careful. she couldn't just tell this kid about the council and that her father was one of the head honchos.

He chuckled confidently as she went on. "Well, I probably could use a sidekick. You know, being the masculine hero is a difficult job, sometimes I just need that sidekick to help with the heavy lifting and you know...Hold the crossbow and look pretty and all." There he goes again, someone gives him some sort of compliment or hint at one, and his overconfidence and arrogance shines through and becomes evident to those around him, and in some cases, himself also. He didn't even know why he was so cocky at times. Sure, he was something back in his Miami days, but he had a feeling that drive had awesome come from being a slayer, too. After all, who wouldnt' be cocky with having super powers and fighting vampires?
He smiled softly because she was making light of the seizure situation herself. After all, he wasn't going to say any comments or laugh or anything in case she felt insulted by it. He understood how difficult things like these could be, and even he wouldn't overstep his boundaries in dealing with this kind of thing. It did strike him as interesting as why someone with medication was even going out of her way and fighting these vampires and getting broised? What if she was seriously injured and couldn't get to her medication in time? He didn't even want to think of this kind of thing really, and decided to focus back on what Anastasia was saying to him. "All that, and still kicking vampire ass, I'm impressed." He smiled gently towards her.
It seemed to him that her father was a bit of an asshole. Ayden personally hated authority, so he wouldn't have been able to stand that man at all from the sounds of things. But it seemed like they had a dislike for authority in common, as she was seemingly rebelling against his will by being here fighting vampires. "Sometimes you just gotta do your own thing, they won't understand. Heck, my brother hates me doing this completely, but its just something I've gotta do.
