[rs=2] | S T R E N G T H S +[independent] - ana has always been a rather independent person. she was raised by the type of father that made her feel like he was more of a drill sergeant than he was a father. she didn't get that father-daughter relationship that everyone raves about. she learned to entertain herself, to take care of herself. her father was often away or busy with work so she was left alone or with nannies quite often. most of the time she escaped to the keller house. +[trained] - ever since ana was born she has been being trained. she is skilled in hand to hand fighting and is also proficient with weapons. she is keenest on hand to hand fighting though and spends most of her time practicing it. she has been trained in martial arts as well as well as gymnastics. anything that would make her more deadly, she was taught. of course this was all for self defense, she was never supposed to actually use any of this. learning but not using what you have learned is a ridiculous notion to her. +[manipulative] - ana can be a manipulative being. she doesn't let people in on her life and so she makes up stories about where she came from and who she is. it isn't hard to fool someone when in all reality they probably don't really care who she is. she manipulates people in believing what she wants them to believe because she feels that it keeps her and them safer. some might say she is a plain old liar, but at least she does it for a good cause. +[female] - this might not seem like a strength but for ana it is. being a girl means that people don't expect her to be tough or able to handle herself. people are constantly under-estimating her which comes in handy during a fight. they don't feel that they need to go full out and that usually results in them losing. plus people don't expect girls to have some crazy secrets like she does. all in all people don't suspect her as being anything more than a twenty one year old young woman and she likes it that way. the further under the radar she can stay, the better. +[protective] - this is one young woman that will go out of her way to protect those that need it. she is extremely caring towards others that may be having a rough time at life. she knows what it is like to struggle and hates to see others doing the same. it is part of who she is to protect the weak and innocent. she was sort of trained to be that way to an extent as well. she will put herself in harms way if it means that she can save an innocent life. +[lithe] - being sneaky is her forte. she can slink into a place and then be gone before people even realize that she was there. she is slender and not super tall which makes hiding all that much easier. of course she isn't invisible and she does find herself in a jam at times. sneaking everywhere doesn't always work. when someone is specifically looking for you it can be hard to keep out of their sight. W E A K N E S S E S +[seizures] - ana suffers from pretty intense seizures. she is on a medication for it but being in her situation makes it hard to get her hands on the medication that she needs sometimes. if she doesn't take her medication daily then she will suffer from minor seizures. the longer she goes without the medicine the more intense the seizures will get. she has been known to blackout if the seizures get too bad. they come on with a little bit of warning, but if she is the middle of a fight then she doesn't really have many options. it is a very good possibility that someday her seizures might get her killed. +[emotionally withdrawn] - this means that she doesn't connect with people very well. she has a hard time expressing any sort of intense emotions. she has what is referred to as attachment issues. because she was never treated as she should have been while she was growing up she developed the inability to attach. she pushes people away from her and won't let them in at all. people tend to see her as moody, hard to handle and depressive. not many people are willing to take the time to find out why she is the way she is and this just adds to her feelings of loneliness and desolation. +[insomnia] - sleeping is something that many people take for granted. getting a good nights sleep or being able to fall asleep are all simple things for most people. ana on the other hand has a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep. she averages about three to four hours of sleep each night. her body has gotten used to this so it does not have too much effect on her but it does start to drag a person down after a while of not getting enough rest. she will lie awake for hours trying to make herself sleep but it just won't happen. it actually drives her insane that she can't just sleep like a normal person but she has been trying her best to just cope with it and make the best of it. +[selective mutism] - somewhere down the line, ana's ability to formulate speech in certain circumstances was impaired. it happened when she was very young but the causes of it are not known to her. all she knows is that for as long as she can remember she has had a hard time speaking when she is expected to speak. in general she is able to talk like a normal person and have normal conversation, well normal for her, but there are times when she just can't talk at all. her mind can formulate the words but her voice will just not vocalize them. it is something the frustrates her because she doesn't know how to control it as well as she would like. during times when her mutism is showing itself she tends to either remove herself from the situation or try and write down her thoughts. she doesn't like writing stuff down though because then people tend to think she is strange and then the questions that she doesn't want to answer ensue. +[thrill seeker] - ana can't keep to herself. if there is something going on that peaks her interest then she has to go and check it out. usually this entails getting herself into trouble that she could have easily avoided if she hadn't been so keen to stick her nose where it didn't belong. she can't just let potentially bad things happen knowing that she might be able to stop it though and so she puts herself into situations that she should stay out of. it is practically impossible for her to just sit idly by and watch the world pass her by. she has to be a part of the action. L I K E S +liam - he is her best friend and so much more than that, though she won't admit it +helping others - it is in her nature +practicing her skills - it is really all that she feels she has left +pushing herself - even if that means going past her own limits +being outdoors - indoors are so cooped up and dreary +fresh rain on a warm day - it smells refreshing and is beautiful to watch +candles - only the ones that smell good, but they are soothing in their own way +animals - you don't have to explain yourself to them and they don't ask questions, they just love you +feeling wanted - this is why she likes to help people, it makes her feel like she has a purpose or a meaning in this life +dancing - this is her guilty pleasure. she enjoys dance of almost any kind +lightning - it is gorgeous the way that it lights up the sky and touches to the earth +children - she has always wanted to be a mother, she just doesn't feel that she should bring a child into this world D I S L I K E S +her disorders - seizures, insomnia and selective mutism, she hates them all. each one plagues her life differently and each one is there to stay +being alone - even though she has a hard time socializing, she still doesn't like to be alone +hurting others - unless it is in self defense or for a good reason. but otherwise she doesn't like watching people suffer at her hand +keeping secrets - even though her whole life is practically a secret she doesn't like keeping things from people if she trusts them. she feels that if someone trusts her enough to tell her things she should do the same, but she just can't +being different - she just wants to be like everyone else around her and live a normal life. but that is just too much to ask H I S T O R Y anastasia rhoslyn vatican is the daughter of renowned watcher and counsel member, nickolas pemberton. ana's mother was named tatianna vatican. nickolas met tatianna during a business trip in romania. the two had a fling and then when he left he thought that was the end of it. nine months later however, he was contacted and told that he had a newborn daughter and that her mother, tatianna, had died during child birth. the baby girl had no where else to go except with her birth father. name anastasia vatican, she was moved to england to live with her father. a gorgeous baby girl with deep brown eyes and a head of dark brown hair. she was her father's little angel, even though he never would admit it aloud. he wasn't exactly the most dedicated type of father. ana was raised mainly by nannies because her father was always gone on business. his job came before all else. it became apparent very early in ana's life that something had gone wrong with her development. she was a very small baby, only three pounds at birth. premature. a complication during birth had cut off oxygen to her brain for a mere matter of moments but had done irreversible damage. she is now plagued with seizures, insomnia and selective mutism. the doctors have tried to help her as best they can and she is on medication to regulate her seizures and her sleep but the selective mutism is just something she has to deal with. as she gets older the seizures seem to be getting worse, sometimes the medication doesn't even hold them at bay. as ana got older she became more and more independent. she worked with tutors instead of going to public school and was trained to protect herself. her father always stressed the importance of being educated and of being able to take care of herself. of course he never wanted her to have the same life as him and forbade her from following in his footsteps. he didn't want his one and only child, especially a daughter, to get into the world of demons and vampires. he saw her as vulnerable because of her disorders and didn't believe she could handle the world of the monsters. he wanted a normal life for her. she grew up closely with the keller family. her closest friend became their oldest son, liam. he was six years her senior but ana had always been mature for her age, even as a young child. she never really became that great of friends with holden, but she didn't dislike the boy by any means. she just got on better with liam. her and liam liked to go out and do things they weren't supposed to do. they would stay out late and pretend to hunt the things that went bump in the night. they talked and laughed and played. both of their families were very strict and child's play was not permitted. her and liam found comfort in each other. they were each other's release. liam was destined to become a watcher though while ana was destined to become something completely different. her father refused to let her become a watcher even though she wanted to. she kept up with her training though, become more and more accurate. she wanted to prove to everyone that she was strong, that she could take care of herself and even others if given the chance. when it was time for liam to go away for college, due to his father's wishes, ana was devastated. her one and only friend was leaving her and she had no hopes of following him. ana and liam had always just been friends, nothing more. liam was eighteen and ana was twelve when he left to the united states. the goodbye was harder than ana could have imagined. she was not a crier, but watching him walk away was too much to handle. she hadn't realized how much she cared about him until it became real that he was leaving. their farewell was a different experience, they almost kissed. sure it seems odd since she was so young, but ana never seemed like she was her true age. at twelve she acted more like a sixteen or seventeen year old. the years that followed liam's departure were hard and she didn't get to see or talk to him hardly ever. she stepped up her training and pushed herself harder than she ever had before. now that she didn't have her best friend to spend time with she spent all of her time in training. it has been ten years since that fateful goodbye and ana is finally heading to the united states to see liam. her father has instructed her to check up on liam and make sure that all is as it should be in the united states. she is then supposed to report back to her father with any news she learns. of course she jumped at the chance to not only see liam again, but to actually do something exciting and new. she has grown up a lot since her and liam were last together and she hopes that he will be surprised to see her. ___________________________________________ new york city. the city of hopes and dreams, or so they say. really it seemed like the city of lost hope and broken dreams, but who was she to judge. it wasn't like she had seen the entire united states, maybe this really was the city of dreams. new york city was definitely not a forgiving city though, that much was completely obvious. she had been in the city for a grand total of four days and so far she had spent all four of those days trying to find a place to stay, some things to do that would earn her a little cash and some food. at twenty one she was independent but she struggled, she had always struggled and felt that she always would. nothing in this life was free and no one was going to hand things out to you. she had learned at a very young age that people don't care about anyone other than themselves. no one loved her, no one ever had. her entire life had been one big storm that had no end in sight. she made her way through the streets of the big city. looking like everyone else in her faded blue jeans, dark blue t-shirt and black jacket with black tennis shoes. maybe she could find a job in one of the little shops or something. just enough to get by during her stay in the city. she never tended to stay in one place for too long. maybe a few months, give or take a little. the longer she stayed in one place the more likely it was that she would get caught. she had put herself as far from romania as she could at this point but still she felt that it might not be enough. ana was one of those people that went through life constantly looking over her shoulder. she felt like someone was always watching her, always following her. that was just part of living a life on the run like she had been for the last three years. her and two others like her. as she passed an alley that she assumed was empty something caught her eye. it was a guy and he had a gun held up to a woman who was crying. so many people were just walking by, unaware of what was happening. ana turned down the alley and as she got closer hollered to the guy "Hey buddy, why don't you find someone your own size to threaten?" she asked in a mocking tone. when the guy turned his gun to her she simply smirked a little at him. he told her to freeze, stop where she was, just turn and walk away or he would kill her too. she set down her bag and then with smirking smile replied "Bring it." the guy fired his gun at her but she easily dodged the bullet and moved up beside him. "Surprise" she whispered in his ear as she punched him in the throat and then aimed a well placed knee at his groin. as she stared to crumble to the ground she let a shoe connect with his head and knock him out. she wasn't going to kill him, this time. she looked over at the woman and nodded slowly at her "Stay out of alleys" she said lightly and then turned and grabbed her bag before walking away. she hadn't gotten more than maybe twenty steps before she started to feel shaky and queasy. she knew this feeling. she looked around to find somewhere, anywhere to duck into for a little while. somewhere that wasn't too crowded. she spotted a small shop and made her way inside. once there she found a secluded corner with a cushioned chair and sat down, pulling her knees to her chest. her body started shaking, convulsing really. she bowed her head onto her knees and tried to concentrate on breathing as the seizure racked through her body. she hoped that no one would come across her like this because she didn't want to answer any questions. she just wanted this to pass and to find some way to get her hands on the medication that she needed to control the seizures. |
